Research Statement:

Since my Ph.D studies, I have been a researcher in the field of cell biology. My skills in this area began with studies of platelets that dates from the time I was working on my doctoral thesis and through my postdoctoral training I have become an expert in isolation of quiescent, highly responsive platelets from humans and mice and an experience teacher and leader in conducting such studies in several national and international laboratories. My interests have focused on the involvement of platelets and the platelet-specific chemokines, platelet factor 4 (PF4) and platelet basic protein (PBP), in megakaryopoiesis, thrombosis, inflammation and cancer. I was the first to develop PF4 and PBP knockout mice that are valuable tools for the study of these chemokines in vivo. I conducted those studies with support of the grants in US and Poland as well as in collaboration with various international laboratories. In addition to the described studies, I am involved in studies carried at the Cellular Proteomics Laboratory in the field of colorectal cancer development. I have published over 90 articles published in peer-reviewed journals with over 5500 citations and h-index of 39.
